I want to tell you about the kindness of my Gods.
I want to tell you about the kindness of my Gods. Yes, they are fierce initiators, profound teachers, and mysteries beyond measure, yes, but they are endlessly kind.
I want to tell you about the time that I went to my Aphrodite shrine one Friday morning and I did bibliomancy with my Sapphic fragment book and the fragment said something like,
"Please I beg you Goddess, do not break my heart this day..."
That was the day my most recent partner left me and I had no conscious idea it was about to happen... Later that night I wept at the kindness of Her trying to get across to this mortal what was about to happen...
I want to tell you of the time that I was sharing and sobbing from the sharing to a beloved in an Elements of Magic class. This person sitting across from me I had witnessed at the gates of initiation and laughed and sobbed with many times before... at some point through all the deep sharing I said... "if anything I worship the coming back, that we're always coming back to one another..." and without calling or knowing I needed it, the presence of the Mystery called Persephone appeared so strongly behind me and all I could hear was "I love you, you are mine, I love you, you are mine..." I cried and cried.
I want to tell you of all the times that Hermes has gotten me out of horrible situations and rooms in horrible places, how deftly He brings things to my friends when I pray for Them to be brought... How kind He is in letting me KNOW They have heard my petitions and prayers.
I want to tell you about the deep kindness of the Lady of the Wildwood whose endless hospitality and power radiates through the Wildwood witches I am in covenant with who embody Her heart in my life.
I want to tell you about Brighid who appeared to River as she was dying - the Irish nurse with red-hair - though no Irish nurse with red-hair had ever visibly come into the room while She was dying... or the time I prayed and prayed for my sister to give birth to Indah in a complicated situation and that an Irish midwife named Mary (who was not meant to be the midwife) came and delivered Indah into the world and helped my sister.
I want to tell you about the kindness of Hekate who consistently aids me in the sorcery that helps clients, friends, beloveds, and kin get the houses they need, sell their homes and businesses, and open the road when the road seems to have washed away.
I want to tell you of the kindness of Kali Maa who has held me in all Her many arms while I had panic attacks in streets, cafes, cars, and airports... who has soothed me and grounded me especially when I was alone without friends or family to hold me in those times.
I want to tell you of the profound kindness of the Gods because yes they are fierce, they are mighty, they are powerful, dreadful even... but in my life I have turned to them again and again, because They have been Kind.
