Fio Gede Parma - fee-oh g-deh par-mah - (they/she) is a Balinese-Australian international teacher, magical mentor, and award-winning author. They were born in the island of Bali - to Roslyn and John - and descend from Balinese, Chinese, Irish, Scottish, Welsh, and English peoples. Fio has lived in so-called Australia for most of her life, as north as Thul Garrie Waja/Gurrumbilbarra (Townsville) and as south as Naarm (Melbourne).

Fio awoke as Witch at the age of 11, their numerological life path number (11/2). They dedicated themself to the Craft with a ritual from a book at age 12. Since that time Fio has been involved and initiated in the mysteries of four witch traditions: Wildwood, Anderean, Reclaiming, and Anderson Feri. Fio’s magical mentors and teachers have been many, but there are a treasured handful, some among the Mighty Dead now, who have deeply inspired their work in the worlds. Their main teachers have always been the Gods, Spirits, the Witch Houses and Communities themselves, but special acknowledgement goes to Fio’s parents, James A., Jarrah, Molly, Jane Meredith, Lee Morgan, Bex, Ravyn Stanfield, Raven Edgewalker, Dawn Isidora, Abel, Gwydion, Cholla - and Ni Wayan Juiti (Fio’s father’s mother), Felix, and Rose May Dance (1948 - 2021) of the Mighty Dead. The witchcraft and magic of these mystics, healers, spirit-workers, and priestexes deeply touch Fio’s life.

Fio was raised in an animistic, polytheistic, magic-affirming, spirit-knowing family - in a haunted house - whose traditions were largely impacted by what the west calls Balinese Hinduism. When forced to consider it, some Balinese name their ‘religion’ Agama Tirta, Religion of the Holy Water. Ganesha, Siwa (Shiva), Krishna, Parwati Uma, Durga, Hanuman, the Barong and Rangda, the spirits and the ancestors were all spoken of, venerated, and regarded with holy awe. The skills of divination, seership, mediumship, trance possession, spirit-flight, and sorcery are practised in Fio’s father’s family.

Fio started writing about the Craft at an early age and felt a fateful and undeniable vocation to not only immerse in the Craft but to teach witchcraft in the world and help mentor spirit-workers. They have been teaching both privately in covens and publicly at gatherings, festivals, workshops, and intensives since 2007. Fio stepped fully into their profession as a diviner, seer, community priestex and facilitator, working witch, mentor, writer, and teacher in January, 2010. This has been their whole job since that time.

Fio’s work in the worlds is woven of many threads:

Tarot & Divination

Fio was gifted her first Tarot deck at the age of 13 by a witch in their teen eclectic Wiccan coven at the time. They have read the cards ever since. Fio has also studied the Elder Futhark and the Old English Runic alphabets extensively and is also an amateur astrologer of the traditional persuasion (thanks Kim Fairminer and Andi!) and Ogham-stave diviner (thanks Raven!).

Magical Mentorship

Working one to one or with small groups of sincere spirit-workers is a deep joy and passion of Fio’s. They have offered ongoing options for one to one magical mentorship since 2011. It began with the two-year Shamanic Craft Apprenticeships and branched out to Sorcery, Tarot, and ecstatically-emergent courses of study and exploration.

Workshops, Courses & Intensives

Fio began teaching small workshops for the greater Pagan and Witchcraft communities at Ritual Experience gatherings held in the so-called South-East Queensland region in 2007/2008. They soon began to teach day-long and weekend intensives and have been doing this ever since in many sacred lands, in five continents. Fio has facilitated hundreds of workshops and courses.

Reclaiming Core Classes & WitchCamps

Fio first student-taught at Reclaiming WitchCamp over Easter, 2011. Fio has co-taught Reclaiming core classes both online and in-person with many amazing Reclaiming teachers and priestexes. Reclaiming is an open-source, ecstatic, feminist witchcraft tradition and international network of artists, activists, and magic-makers that emerged in the early 80s. Fio is a proud Reclaiming initiate, teacher, priestex, and student.

Angelic Magic & Witchcraft

The angelic spirits have been a part of Fio’s life since they awoke to their Craft. When Fio discovered the world of Traditional Witchcraft in their teens they realised there was indeed a crucial cosmological and mythic place for angels in witchcraft. Since that time they have developed their own body of work and teaching related to the Angels and have offered this work both privately and publicly.

Deepening Intimacy with the Great Ones - The Gods

The Great Spirits we often name as Gods have always been central to Fio’s life. As a child Fio was enamoured by Ganesha and spent time meditating with Them in front of the family shrine. Fio is sworn to 13 Great Spirits, having made vows and oaths upon those sacred relationships: Persephone, Aphrodite, the Sacred Four of the Wildwood, Brigid, their fetch-mate, the Star Goddess and Peacock Angel, Hermes, Hekate, and Maa. Fio delights in facilitating ways of being and engaging with the Great Spirits and is particularly known for their work in Trance Possession.

Initiatory Craft

Fio is an initiated witch involved in several traditions of the Craft. They have helped to train and initiate many amazing witches in Wildwood, Reclaiming, and Anderson Feri traditions. She is no longer taking anyone on for initiation, but is happy to help link people with potential teachers and initiators in a variety of traditions and has a penchant for it.

Spellcraft & Sorcerous Services

Witches cast spells. It’s the main thing we are known for, other than that pesky devil and flying! Fio has been offering tailored spellcraft services since they were a teen witch in Toowoomba and the neighbours and family friends would pop round for readings and magic. Fio has a knack for helping to sell buildings and businesses that won’t budge and opening the way for love, prosperity, and power in people’s lives.

Writing & Books

Fio always wanted to be a writer some day. Well, with a lot of blood, sweat, and tears that happened. Their first book - Spirited: Taking Paganism Beyond the Circle (out of print) - was published by Llewellyn in 2009. It won the COVR award for best Wicca/Pagan book of that year. Her most recent book - The Witch Belongs to the World: A Spell of Becoming - was released in August, 2023 by Llewellyn and is a love-song to witches.
